"Because I don’t have one."
She laughed. And then she offered to ‘take care of that little problem’ for my birthday.
“Whee!”
Let it be known that I am not in habit of asking for expensive gifts. I may have an overdeveloped sense of entitlement when it comes to things like love and respect and adoration and all that, but not for things. When pressed, I ask for bathrobes and DVDs – items of minor luxury that I can’t seem to get around to buying for myself.
But it’s been at least five years since I owned a camera. My old Kodak jobby got lost in one move or another and well, I’d been thinking it was about time to start recording my own little history. And not just in blog entries.
So, my mother got to work. She consulted with my brother who knows such things and today, just in time for my trip, the new baby arrived. If you think I got a little crazy about a new winter coat… well, I think I delighted (and/or frightened) the mailman when I yeehawed his presence at my door this morning.
I’d only been reading the manual for a few minutes when I discovered instructions for the Pet setting. That’s right. PET SETTING. You know, for capturing your beloved animal at his very best. Say no more! I spied Sir Hal, unaware of my new toy and its amazing capabilities, hiding in my suitcase. He does this before every trip . It's his little forget-me-not. I may not be with you, but my hair sure will be.
I popped in the batteries, climbed onto the floor, scrolled to the correct setting and click!
He is nothing if not photogenic.

Sir Hal's good looks make up for his smelly reputation! :) (and from the nose up, he looks exactly like my cat, Nala). Pretty soon you'll wonder how you ever managed without your digital!
I love it! Pets are great subjects of photos, and since I don't have kids, I have a ton of pictures of my dogs in my house! :)

hhahaha hilarious. Sir Hal definitely looks gorgeous and knows how to make his presence known. Does he have that sixth sense dogs have regarding trips? You know, starting to follow you around a lot even a few days before a trip.

Aww, he's a looker! And photogenic, too. My camera, alas, has no pet setting. Whatever it does have is a little slow, so Geoffrey is halfway across the room before the shutter goes off.

I think the last camera (that wasn't disposable) that I owned was a kodak auto rewind (I thought that was freakin great). So congrats on being "in" with the new camera. And happy birthday, yet again.

The "pet setting" on my camera (Canon) is portrait with the little flower turned on and the flash turned off. Works well if the pet and the photographer do not move while the picture is being taken.

Fish we have the same birthday. If your's is 1/3 as great as mine was it will be wonderful. Yesterday was a love fest for me. Everyone at work was super sweet and my hubby took me to a romantic dinner and then my super sweet neighbors came over for cake. Perfect day (well perfect day that I had to work).
